Status: complete.

## Summary

Implemented a polished GPT-5.5 upper-bound version of the Italian Phrasebook Generator. The artifact is still a self-contained phrase generator, but now includes category filters, tone selection, phrase intent filters, contextual notes, pronunciation hints, related phrase suggestions, saved phrases, copy support, slow-mode display, and a small practice prompt.

## Artifact

Entry point: `artifact/index.html`.

## Usage

Open `artifact/index.html` in a browser. Choose a situation, tone, and phrase intent, then click **Generate Phrase**. Use **Surprise Me** for a random travel scenario, **Save** to keep useful phrases in the review list, **Copy** to copy the current Italian-English pair, and **Practice** to drill saved or related phrases.

## What GPT-5.5 Changed

- Replaced the single random hardcoded phrase display with a richer phrasebook interface built around travel situations.
- Added 25 phrase records with English translations, pronunciation guides, usage notes, tone labels, region hints, and intent categories.
- Added working interactions for filtering, randomization, favorites, related suggestions, copy fallback, slow reading mode, and answer checking.
- Improved visual design while keeping the artifact fully local: one HTML file, inline CSS/JS, no remote assets, no external APIs, no web fonts, and no `fetch()`.

## Remaining Limitations

The phrase data is still curated and hardcoded rather than generated from a grammar engine or database. Pronunciation is approximate, not audio. The practice checker expects close exact matches after basic normalization, so it does not understand alternate valid Italian phrasings.
